Why you need to put a mirror on your desk
Just because the prospect can't see you doesn't mean you shouldn't see you.
There are many benefits to selling over the phone in terms of personal appearance. When the prospects can't see you, things like a sharply pressed suit and a perfectly coifed head of hair are no longer meaningful ways to make an impression. All you have is your voice, your tone, your inflection and your pacing. These key elements of your presentation can be taught, practiced and refined, but rarely if ever fully perfected. For those of us that are truly in love with the process, that is part of the draw, that there is always a way to sharpen your edge.
As you progress through your shift, one of your biggest priorities is the volume of presentations you can give in a single day in order to close the maximum amount of the business possible. This is simple enough, more presentations means more sales. Simple, but not easy. Even the most expert among us experience fatigue and boredom of the phone. The trouble is the difficult nature of keeping your tenth pitch of the day as exciting as the first, and that is no easy task.
Face control = voice control. There is a reason we say "smile and dial!". Your smile truly can be heard through your voice, and putting a mirror on your desk is a very easy way to keep you aware of the face you are making as you are giving a sales presentation over the phone. If you can see your face becoming neutral over the course of your shift, you can get it under control and bring the smile back in order to bring the energy back to your voice and this will result in a higher close rate. Whether you're working at the office on a sales floor, or working from home with no one else around, a mirror on your desk is one of the best things you can do for yourself to help you give a higher volume of quality presentations.
If you're ready to take your sales process to the next level and to experience consistently increasing commissions, then it is time to set up your coaching session today. Now let's go make those fat stacks!
